There’s no better time to celebrate our President & CEO, Chris Vernon, than on his 60th birthday, which just happens to land on Presidents’ Day this year. Or does Presidents’ Day land on Chris’s birthday? Either way…it’s a presidential day of commemoration!

The home office caught Chris off guard with a pre-birthday celebration last week during Vernon’s annual Valentine’s Day luncheon. He was lured by the sweet smell of cinnamon rolls and chili (a midwest tradition) but stayed for the great company and heartfelt speeches.

The celebration was complete with camouflage cake & cookies, a collaborative rendition of “Happy Birthday”, and a slide show of memories, which a very humbled Chris jokingly compared to a “Celebration of Life”.

Brad Lundquist, Senior Vice President of Operations, shared some kind words about his friendship and work relationship with Chris, reflecting back to 29 years ago when Chris was the Manager of Outside Lines and Brad held the title of Controller-how far they’ve come! Brad expressed that his favorite qualities in Chris are his “honesty” and “directness”. He also mentioned how “refreshing” it is to work with someone who “provides stability and dedication to Vernon”. I think we can all agree with Brad that “Chris makes BOLD decisions for the company that will benefit all of us.”

Chris’s brother and Vernon Vice President, Rick Vernon, spoke proudly of his younger brother’s life-long ambition, his drive for success, as well as his many accomplishments. Rick concluded his sincere address with an “I love you very much.”

Fun Fact: Chris Vernon might be sharing his birthday with Presidents’ Day this year, but he shares his birthday every year with his younger brother and Vernon Vice President,  Cameron Vernon!

Although decorated for Valentine’s Day with a touch of birthday camo, the theme of the gathering was undoubtedly: “Chris makes 60 look good!”

Happy Birthday, Chris Vernon!
