The Vernon Company’s annual United Way fundraising campaign raised a total of $24,117 for the United Way of Jasper County. The 2011 campaign exceeded the goal amount by more than $1,600 and surpassed last year’s donations by 15%.

Corporate office employees raised $16,617 through a series of fundraising efforts, including raffle drawings, bake sale, piggy bank collection contest, cookout lunch, ice cream float day and employee and retiree pledge card donations.  The Vernon Company supported employees’ fundraising efforts pledging a $7,500 match towards the campaign.

“Each year, our employees look forward to our annual United Way campaign. We like to challenge ourselves with new activities that get people engaged while also educating them about the important work of United Way in our community,” explains Andrea Smith, Vernon’s employee campaign coordinator and board past-president for United Way of Jasper County.

“Our surprise success this year was a fun raffle drawing for some pretty great prizes, including tickets to the play Wicked and football tickets for both the University of Iowa and Iowa State University.  It was really fun to see people get into the fundraising activities.”
